BioKoncept Slope Stabilisation Technology
We can now supply a unique new amazing value slope stabilisation/reinforcement system called BioKoncept protected under European Patent P-390 948 and with ISO Certification. Manufactured for us in Poland new to the UK but already used successfully in over 30 countries.
The system comprises of a Bio non woven material which uniquely contains grass and other soilbinding type plant seeds. This fabric has been produced to slowly degrade into the existing soils whilst feeding and nurturing the encapsulated seeds.
Fixed over this bio blanket is a three dimensional geocell mat manufactured from recycled polyethylene.
Used for the stabilisation of slopes, banks and other earthworks. Installation is relatively simple and three men with a digger and basic tools can lay at least 500 m2 per day, using the following system:
1. Shape and prepare the site soils
2. Lay and pin down the biononwoven fabric
3. Place and pin down the Geocellmats
4. Fill in with humus (soil)
5. Add water and within 4/5 weeks the consolidating grass will have grown throughcompleting the stabilisation.
The Biokoncept system can be used in many slope protection and other ground stabilisation applications, eliminating the need for complicated, expensive construction techniques and is ideal to combat slope erosion.
The material is permeable and therefore allows water to flow between cells encouraging drainage and vegetation growth.
The geocell confinement systems structure confines soil or aggregate material, greatly improving resistance to erosive forces such as rainwater run-off on steep or unstable slopes, or slopes exposed to severe hydraulic or mechanical stresses.
The systems helps to stabilise the slope and limits effects of slope erosion.
The specially prepared and cultivated seeds ensure fully vegetated slope surfaces where this would not otherwise be possible. Small shrubs can be planted within the cell openings to offer improved binding and provide the highest protection.
The Biokoncept system is normally suitable for slopes up to 45 degrees.
Biokoncept soil containment cells are supplied in easily stored and handled flat panel strips, and are expanded on site tailored to the desired dimensions and shapes.
The geogrid is flexible enough to go round trees and other obstacles. The cellular structure is fixed as required using the fixing pins.
The Biokoncept system as a whole does not have any direct competitor, however plastic gridsystems for ground stabilisation and slope protection have been available for over 30 years and a very competitive market exists.
The price per square metre for the total Biokoncept system is £5.80 per m2 Ex Factory which compares very favourably with other similar but less effective systems.
